Northwest Fishing Magazine April 2025 Volume 4 Issue 6 - Flipbook - Page 4
EDITOR’S CORNER:
Ah, spring, the season of renewal and rebirth! The fields around our house are already showing
the first touches of green, as winter wheat starts popping up throughout the grasslands of Central
Montana. I find my thoughts coming back to a form of fly fishing I haven’t done in years, still fishing
with chironomids under a strike indicator. It’s the ultimate in contemplative fishing, sitting in an
anchored raft, the spring sun spreading its soothing warmth as we say “goodbye” to winter. Gary
shares his specifics on chironomid fishing in his article this month. Indicator down - let’s go!
In this month’s issue, we also take a closer look at kokanee fishing, as Randy Castello and Fish with
Gary take a deep dive into the details that make kokanee such a worthy adversary. We’ll be running
Fish with Gary’s classic treatise on kokanee, “Kokanee University” over the next several issues. You
won’t want to miss a single article, and it will make you a better kokanee angler. Throw in articles on
walleye and rainbows and there’s plenty to explore.
Stay safe on the water!
